Recently, I partnered with Ellendale Village in Upper Kedron to install a new Red Rose Foundation Red Bench at the shopping centre. Red Rose is a registered national charity dedicated to preventing domestic and family violence-related deaths.

This is the third Red Bench installed locally in the past two years.

The first Red Bench was installed when I partnered with students at Ferny Grove State High School and earlier this year the second with students at Mitchelton State High School.

A Red Bench serves as a striking visual installation and reminder we should not stay silent in the face of domestic and family violence.

At a time when the Crisafulli Government has cut funding for DV services it is more important than ever for all of us to start conversations around domestic and family violence.
