About Mark Furner

Mark Furner was elected to the seat of Ferny Grove in the 2015 State Election. He is presently the chair of the Legal Affairs and Community Safety Committee. Prior to entering state politics, Mark was a Senator for Queensland in the Australian Parliament from July 2008 to June 2014.

Mark is a strong believer in education and was privileged to visit more than 140 schools in Queensland to open Building the Education Revolution projects and see the impact new libraries and new classrooms were having on students as part of his previous role.

As a Senator, Mark was chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade - Defence sub-committee which saw him lead a delegation to visit the troops in Afghanistan. Through his committee work, Mark is a strong supporter and advocate for military families and returned servicemen and women. Mark was also the deputy chair of the Joint Committee on Law Enforcement.
